When you sit, avoid sitting in the middle of your buttocks where you naturally collapse and slouch. Instead, sit closer to the edge of the chair so your lower back stays gently arched, not rounded.
Your hips and knees should be at 90 degrees, with both feet flat on the floor.
If holding this position feels difficult, use support:
- If you have larger buttocks, place a pillow below your shoulder blades to help keep the natural curve of your back
- For others, placing a pillow just above the buttocks can help
- This does not work for everyone, so adjust until you feel supported, not forced
The goal is not perfection. The goal is to keep an arched, supported spine instead of a slouched one.
